Record Details

Species Tramea onusta (Red Saddlebags)
Specimen Notes First noticed fairly large red dragonfly flying at least 15 feet high. Thought it was Flame Skimmer at first then noticed the distinct gliding flight and the blood red color versus more of a bright orangish-red of a flame skimmer . It would fly higher up then work its way back down to eye level. Always on the wing never landing. Very noticeable red patches near the base of the hind wing. The saddlebags would land briefly sometimes on top of the pines then pick up again. There were a total of 2 flying around. And I was able to get picture of one when it landed.
