The same individual as first noted a few days ago. =================================================== I scoured a 200 meter section of the stream noting locally interesting species such as Dusky Dancer (rare in the sw. away from mountain streams and first county record), Autumn Meadowhawk (first county record), and two Eastern Ringtails (very late ... record late? ... for Oklahoma). At 11:45, having looped back to the beginning, I opted for one more look at the specific riffle where seen earlier in the week ... and there he was on the same rock to which it had shown a strong affinity before. My girlfriend was along and as it happens was closest at 15ft away ... she secured some shots that matched the qualilty of last week. But a little tag-team eventually guided the skimmer to within 8 ft of me for a better series depicting greater detail. The ode was in good form and looking none the worse for wear.============================================== To re-iterate, the wings are held in a high dihedral, not a shallow one like most skimmers. Not only in flight, but at rest in seemingly an alert posture. (depicted below). Generally, at rest wings were extended down and forward not unlike a Blue Corporal or Common Whitetail. Images of these postures will be included in an update of the OdonataCentral record. Once again, the skimmer was never seen to alight on anything but bare faced rocks within the streambed. Also, in the follow-up 30 min observation, I would refine the description of the darting motion as much to the side as forward in something of a rocking motion. This made my attempts at video all the more futile.

NO PRIOR COUNTY RECORD: only a few noted along 100 meter stretch of streambed. This is largely a mud substrate to a very shallow stream but pebbly riffles exist and this is where the species was detected.
