	Location Notes: Lake Marvin, Black Kettle National Grassland, Hemphill Co., Texas Specimen Notes: Flying with E. petechialis along edges of road in grassland mixed with hardwood forest. Cool tempertures, but sun was out in late afternoon and the baskettails were taking advantage of the sunlight. Perhaps petechialis cannot be eliminated by this photo, but after discussion with JCA I am submitting it for the information. Two other images available. 	Location Notes: River Trail, along Colorado River, at Hornsby Bend. Specimen Notes: NO PHOTO - NO SPECIMEN This is being submitted as a late date record for Texas. While photographing odonates at Hornsby Bend, one of my regular spots, I observed an Anax darner flying back and forth across the sandy road, 20 feet from me. There were a number of Anax junius (Com. Green Darners) in the area, male and female, but the described bug was different in that it had a bright red-orange abdomen. The thorax of the described bug was a lime green color which contrasted noticeably with the bright red-orange abdomen. I am confident that the observed bug was a male Anax longipes (Comet Darner). Unfortunately, it did not land so I did not get any photos and I could not get close enough to catch it before it departed. I observed it for about 30 seconds, sometimes as it flew slowly against a wall of vegetation allowing good looks. I am very familiar with female Com. Green Darners, A. junius, which can have a brownish red abdomen. I have observed many Comet Darners at this same location as well as other locations in the past 4 years. Comet Darners are uncommon but regular at this location. I found the first Travis County record at this same spot in 2003 (collected and photographed) and have photographed and collected them here every year since. I had seen about 5 or 6 others earlier this season. In 2005, I set a new late date record for this species of Oct. 23 when I photographed one here. The one today, Nov. 5, is a new late date record for Texas, but obviously without a photo I have no evidence other than my own sight observation. I am submitting this as a sight record at the suggestion of John Abbott. Decision Notes: None entered
