Dragonfly Society of the Americas

The Dragonfly Society of the Americas was organized during 1988 by several US Odonatist. It was incorporated as a not for profit corporation in 2002. Purposes of the DSA are to encourage scientific research, habitat preservation and aesthetic enjoyment of Odonata through (1) cooperation and comradeship among odonatologists worldwide; (2) fostered interchange between amateur and professional enthusiast; (3) establishment of publications to disseminate information relating to Odonata; (4) support for wetlands and habitat preservation as the most effective manner for odonate conservation; and (5) cooperation with organizations sharing common goals of environmental preservation.

Although membership consist primarily of US Odonatist, It serves all of North, Central and South America. It is open to anyone in the world, however, who has an interest in Odonata. The name was changed from the "Dragonfly Society of America" to the "Dragonfly Society of the Americas" to promote and welcome membership from Central and South America, as well as the rest of North America.
